Mind or Heart - Which Can I Trust?

Public Talk with His Eminence Dzogchen Rinpoche

Nowadays it can sometimes be quite difficult to make a decision or a good plan for our life, health, family or business. There seem to be so many possibilities and although we believe in the freedom of choice and will, we can sometimes not be so sure what our decisions are really based on.

Our mind is constantly influenced by media, politics, fashion, social standards and contradictory information all of which can be confusing to the point where we cannot be sure what to trust, or if what we follow is what we really want. Instead we might often find ourselves being guided mainly by fear and worries rather than by common sense, and end up being unhappy instead of improving our lives.

In this Public Talk His Eminence Dzogchen Rinpoche will help us to better understand heart and mind through the ancient wisdom called Dzogchen and explain which to trust.

Kön Chog Chidü Long Life Empowerments and Teachings

Mind and Heart - What's the Difference?

Empowerments and Teachings with Dzogchen Rinpoche

We create obstacles in our precious human life when we lack tse [strength of life], le [karma] and sonam [merit]. We can repair our life's strength by receiving the extraordinary blessings of the Long Life Empowerment; the antidote for premature and accidental death. His Eminence Dzogchen Rinpoche will grant the "Kön chog Chidü, Guru Rinpoche Long life" empowerment and will introduce us to how we can repair our lack of karma through animal liberation and how we can accumulate merit through making offerings to the three kayas and through generosity to all sentient beings.

In the afternoon session Dzogchen Rinpoche will further outline in detail how to recognise the difference between mind and heart by seeing everything as it is rather than judging, thus reconnecting to our true values and who we really are. This view, explained and realised through the authentic and ancient teaching of the Dzogchen Lineage, is of great benefit to our daily life even on a very practical level and brings about a real change.

Everyone is welcome to attend.

Tsok Boom message from H.E. Dzogchen Rinpoche,
Sunday 30th July, Australia
"The paramita of generosity and the offering of our heartfelt wishes for the removal of obstacles, for peace and well-being of our loved ones and all beings, is incredibly powerful. Tsok Boom requires the involvement of the whole community in the accumulation of prayers, including the monastic community, the local Tibetan community and our international sangha and friends. It is a wonderful example of compassion and interdependence in action. I encourage our international sangha to participate and accumulate as many Tsok prayers as possible at your upcoming gatherings.
May its benefit spread in the 10 directions."

Tsok Boom 2017
Tsok Boom, the accumulation of over 100,000 prayers and offerings to remove obstacles, accumulate merit and generate an auspicious environment, is performed annually at Dzogchen Monastery lead by the monks of Dzogchen Monastery and hundreds of people from the Dhondenling settlement.
His Eminence was given heart instructions from his late father, Tsewang Paljor, to perform the ritual of tsok 100,000 times to generate peace and stability. Tsewang Paljor was secretary to the great Dzogchen master Jamyang Khyentse Chokyi Lodro, who became renowned for performing auspicious Tsok Boom practices that generated many miraculous signs. Tsewang Paljor gave heart advice to his closest son, H.E. Dzogchen Rinpoche, to continue this powerful practice in South India. Ever since, the Tsok Boom is celebrated annually at Dzogchen Monastery.
The ritual practice
The practice of tsok is performed as part of the Könchog Chidü sadhana, the root practice of Dzogchen Monastery, according to the authentic 400 year old Dzogchen Monastery lineage.
The power of tsok is multiplied by accumulating 100,000 prayers, increasing its ability to transform negativity. The offering of food and ritual cakes called tormas, also adds strength to this auspicious practice. The food is blessed and then shared throughout the entire community of over 7000 people.
The benefits of Tsok Boom
Tsok Boom generates peace for the monastery, the Tibetan and local community. It brings about auspiciousness, success, an abundance of merit, wealth and health for donors and participants, benefits the environment and alleviates negativity in the world. Specifically for the local Tibetan and Indian farmers, Tsok Boom creates supportive climate conditions for their crops which are vital for their livelihood.
Tsok boom is a very important event within the Tibetan calendar and it is His Eminence' wish that as many people as possible can participate and receive its precious blessings. This is a unique opportunity to share in the merit by offering support and sponsorship that will contribute to the running of Tsok Boom 2017, allowing the benefits of peace and well being to spread throughout the world in this much needed time. Your offering will help to remove obstacles and will also allow you to accumulate personal merit that can support your spiritual practice.
How to make an offering
If you would like join this year's Tsok Boom festival and connect your friends and loved ones to this powerful practice renowned for removing obstacles restoring health and clearing negative imbalances, we invite you to make an offering. Please email shenpen@shenpenaustralia.org
Your name and the names of your loved ones will be added to the prayers list to which this practice is dedicated.
