Karma Prayer and Interdependence

Everything in our lives and our world is decided by karma and karma is strongly influenced by the interdependent nature of everything. While this can seem that we have no control over our experiences, we can change the course of our lives and our actions through our intentions and motivation. The most powerful way to do this is through prayer.

His Eminence, the 7th Dzogchen Rinpoche, Jigme Losal Wangpo, will explain how the relative system operates and how prayer can help shift the flow of interdependence in the right direction for our lives.

His Eminence the 7th Dzogchen Rinpoche, Jigme Losel Wangpo

The practices and teachings shared in the retreats are from the ancient Dzogchen (Great Perfection) teachings. Dzogchen is the oldest and highest lineage within Tibetan Buddhism. It is an unbroken lineage passed from master to disciple for over 400 years. His Eminence the 7th Dzogchen Rinpoche, Jigme Losel Wangpo was recognised by His Holiness the 4th Dodrupchen Rinpoche and by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, as the incarnation of Dzogchen Rinpoche and the current lineage holder of these precious Dzogchen teachings.

He is also the head of the mother Dzogchen Monastery with around 400 branches in Tibet and the Himalayas. After the cultural revolution in 1959 His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama requested and advised Dzogchen Rinpoche to rebuild Dzogchen Monastery in the south of India. This is now a flourishing monastery producing exceptional graduates of Philosophy, Ritual and Meditation. Having also established centres in the south of France, South Australia and Victoria, Australia, His Eminence has recently released his first book, "Meditation for Modern Madness."

Dzogchen Rinpoche is renowned as an exceptional teacher who makes the profound ancient wisdom of Dzogchen accessible for the modern mind, in today's fast-paced world. He teaches in a practical way that allows people to integrate the practices and teachings into their daily lives. Emanating a clear view, delivered with warmth and humour, His Eminence is known for guiding people to understand the root cause of their challenges, helping them feel lighter and calmer, while providing the ongoing tools to manage the stresses and strains of modern life.

His Eminence's work also has a charitable dimension, founding the Dzogchen Shri Senha Charitable Society (DSSCS), which has seen him work tirelessly to improve the lives of Tibetan refugee and Indian communities, in India. He has built schools, community centres, kindergartens and retirement homes, as well as provided education scholarships and road infrastructure. He has been recognised by the Tibetan Government for his charitable work for Tibetan Refugees living in exile.

What to expect on retreat

His Eminence's retreats are carefully developed to provide the best support possible for every practitioner. Each retreat starts with the Drubpa Na Sel (optional), a 5-day intensive practice designed to prepare participants to receive the teachings at a deeper level. The main 10-day period of the retreat includes meditation, yoga, daily teachings and open-hearted discussion groups, that provide an inspiring, safe and compassionate space to learn and integrate the wisdom of the Dzogchen teachings.

The retreat is focused on the quality and depth of the teachings, as well as the individual care and support provided to participants. This is achieved by maintaining a limited and selected number of retreatants.

Nutritious and healthy food is freshly prepared each day, while the retreat is set within a beautiful and inspiring environment, providing the perfect setting for a transformative and healing experience.

Post-retreat support

Dzogchen Rinpoche is known for his compassionate actions and thus ensures that all retreatants are supported to continue the path, should they choose to do so. This includes regular local meditation classes for new students as well as study and practice groups, which are guided by His Eminence and led by experienced senior students.
